Welcome to the CON-plex! Or, as we like to think of it, a fandom page dedicated to all things Con related.

I began going to conventions many years ago and have frequented dozens since. While  Florida based (and have had the opportunity to attend many of the sunshine state Cons!), I have traveled out of state and across the country to get my convention fixes as well.

To quote Mary Traina’s article The True Meaning of Comic-Con:
“It’s exhausting to remain calm and put together, especially when you realize there is a world of people out there letting themselves just absolutely flip out about the things they love. Comic-Con melted any structure I had ever built around myself in order to “fit in” and I was suddenly at peace.”

One thing I know for sure is that some of the most amazing and creative people I’ve had the pleasure to meet and become acquainted with, I’ve done so at these conventions. The most eye catching encounters are, by far, the exquisite cosplayers who grace these events.

Cosplay, “a contraction of the words costume play, is a performance art in which participants called cosplayers wear costumes and fashion accessories to represent a specific character. Favorite sources include manga and anime, comic books and cartoons, video games, and live-action films and television series.”

With an eye for capturing these truly creative expressions in the photos that follow, this site serves in part as a platform to highlight the artistry and effort of cosplayers everywhere. Their work is unique, incredible, and an art form in and of itself!
